Allison Bishop is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Recovery Coach. She has extensive experience working with individuals and families struggling with substance use disorder and mental health issues.
In 2016, Allison began her career at South County Mental Health Center as a social worker intern in the acute care unit, assisting the psychiatrist to diagnose, treat, and provide case management services to clients.
In 2017, Allison began an internship at Seaside Treatment Center and simultaneously joined Hopes, Dreams & Horses where she co-facilitated equine therapy sessions alongside other therapists. In 2019, Allison accepted a full-time position with Seaside as lead therapist serving patients with substance use disorder and mental health issues. She was introduced to Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) when she accompanied her clients and participated in their Equine Therapy sessions.
In February 2021, Allison left Seaside and to open her private practice, AB Counseling in Palm Beach, FL. She joined the HHH equine therapy team in March of 2021 and now splits her time between her private practice, working with HHH equine therapy clients, and serving on the HHH Advisory Board helping the non-profit grow.
Allison holds an advanced master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. She proudly considers herself a sober warrior and is a passionate advocate, both on a local and national level, for addiction and mental health issues.
Why I work at HHH: Working with horses at HHH is so healing. The way horses are sensitive and can connect to the client’s feelings is amazing to witness. The clients struggle with many different issues as they walk into the arena. After they connect with the horses and engage in the therapeutic equine work, they walk out in a much calmer and mindful state. It is truly amazing!”
