Mary Carol Melton has worked for over 30 years in nonprofits, addressing the issues in the areas of mental health, substance use, and criminal justice. Most recently she led a team of over 20 agencies in Cincinnati, Ohio to create the Off the Streets program that addresses the needs of women involved in prostitution.

She continues to serve as Program Director for this innovative program. In her role as Executive Vice President of Cincinnati Union Bethel, a 183-year-old social service agency, she oversees program operations, human resources and development. In 2009, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber named Mary Carol its Non-Profit Woman of the Year for her leadership in the nonprofit sector. Mary Carol is a past chairperson of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics and currently serves on its advisory board.
